If better feedback leads to better teaching and better teaching leads to higher student achievement then it could be said engagement (the ability to absorb, engross, involve and devote oneself) is the mechanism for sustained improvement. Teachers, like students, face challenges continually engrossing themselves in daily practice, looking for ways to keep themselves interested, delivering engaging content and activities to students, and embracing the joy of their craft. Engagement invigorates teachers, helping them recognize areas for improvement (in themselves and students); accept and act on professional assessment feedback data; and actively seek ways to enhance their teaching practice.
